Foraging for Food in the Woods

Foraged Salad

This is a homestead salad prepared with garden produce and foraged weeds. It contains bib lettuce and beet greens from the garden, common purslane found growing along the gravel driveway, lambs quarters, a common weed found along the edge of the woods, wood sorrel another common weed that invades my flower garden and garlic chives that spring up in various places in the yard. I also added a handful of strawberries from the garden strawberry patch. Who needs a garden, just eat the weeds. They are nutritious.
